International Day for Tolerance #TOGETHER
16 Kasım ~ Uluslararası Hoşgörü Günü
“Before long the whole world will know what justice really is. Justice makes society really human. The sole concern of all nations will then be love of humanity. The move to promote humanitarian ideals is bound to succeed sooner or later.” – Mustafa Kemal Atatürk
“Tolerance is an act of humanity, which we must nurture and enact each in own lives every day, to rejoice in the diversity that makes us strong and the values that bring us together.” — UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay
On the day of its fiftieth anniversary, 16 November 1995, UNESCO’s Member States adopted a Declaration of Principles on Tolerance. And In 1996, the UN GeneralAssembly (by resolution 51/95) invited UN Member States to observe the International Day for Tolerance on 16 November. Among other things, the Declaration of Principles of Tolerance affirms that tolerance is neither indulgence nor indifference. It is respect and appreciation of the rich variety of our world’;s cultures, our forms of expression and ways of being human. Tolerance recognizes the universal human rights and fundamental freedoms of others. People are naturally diverse; only tolerance can ensure the survival of mixed communities in every region of the globe.
